Many young children in Delaware County growing up in poverty don't have any books at home. That early gap in exposure to language and stories can follow a child for years. In fact, 61% of low-income households have no books for their children. We're working to change that, one book at a time.
Christian founded Delco Books for a Brighter Start to help children in low-income households access books and build home libraries. As a former Head Start student and lifelong volunteer, he brings personal experience and deep commitment to early literacy. He manages our donations, community partnerships, and outreach.Â
With over 20 years of classroom experience and several additional years in administrative roles at Head Start, Jennifer brings a wealth of experience and knowledge to our team. She advises on book selection, literacy impact, and strategies to close the access gap for the children we serve.
